On Monday, October 26th, The Champaign County Farm Bureau CEO leadership class attended Dewey. This group is made up of high school seniors from Fisher, Gibson City, and Paxton high schools. They have spent previous weeks with famers and other agriculture organizations in the community observing how the harvest process is carried out. During their time with Premier, they toured the facility and saw the process from start to finish when a farmer brings grain in. Along with explaining the process, we discussed the commodity markets and what factors play into that. We spoke about the new Phase 1 trade agreement and what that meant for agriculture and how the ag commodity markets have been affected by COVID-19 this year. It was a unique opportunity for the students to get to view how we at the elevator play a vital role in agriculture.
